Disclaimer: Hellsing isn't mine, I just play in their playground from time to time...  call it trespassing, but I love that world.

A scream.   It was the first sound she had known in decades.   Yet her hands clawed blindly at the frail fabrics that held her.  Alarms sounded, lights flashes,  the room was in utter chaos.  She was scrambling to her feet, her nude body pale in the waning light of the medical ward.  Gleaming crimson eyes were out of focus.   So many strange scents hit her all at once.   She knew only one thing.   Run.

Eric had returned from another mission.  He couldn't ask for a better life.  He had bizarre friends in a witch, and he had finally started to warm up to the demon who insisted on following her around everywhere.  He had a solid position within the ranks of Hellsing along with many friends there, and something more.  His footfalls took him down those cobblestone stairs to the area where the air had a heavy metallic smell of blood and age.  There was no effort to open doors, instead he walked right through them, melted into shadow, a perfect nightmare's touch as he reappeared by the great No Life King's chair.   Arms snaked around Alucard's neck as he sat on the other vampires lap as though the vampire wasn't the slightest threat in the world.   On the contrary, Eric always seemed to be playing with fire.

One lazy arm curled around the young thief who had managed to steal what affection the Count was capable of.  It had been tested many times.  By Millennium,  by Eric himself, but the greatest test was soon to come as the alarm sounded over the compound.   Eric let out an annoyed sound but was hushed as the two of them got to their feet only to disappear to the outside.

The soldiers were scrambling to stop the pale figure when the two vampires came on the scene.   Eric was first to appear before her, seizing her by the throat.  Her momentum twisted him around as she let out a shrill scream, clawing at his face in a blind panic.   As his blood ran down his face he narrowed his eyes, turning to slam her into the ground, drawing his other hand back in preparation of sinking it through her chest to rip out her inhuman heart when his wrist was seized, rather painfully, by Alucard.

Eric turned his head, a mixture of confusion and pain written across his visage as he looked up at the vampire who towered over them both.   He couldn't place the expression on Alucard's face.  Revulsion?  A great sadness?  Horror?  Hope?  All of the above in a twisted breath of fate?    One word escaped his trembling lips...

"Mina..."

Eric was forced to let her go.  The soldiers all stood around with weapons trained on the woman.  Yet the great vampire only slid off his coat and wrapped it around her body as she sat up, looking up to him with a confused terror.  She reached up, grabbing his white shirt tightly, clinging to him.   The Count had just gotten a ghost back from the dead.   For the young vampires part, all he could do was watch this scene unfold before him.

As Alucard lifted her up, casting a warning glare to the soldiers he turned and took her inside the Hellsing residence.  Eric stood outside, watching him disappear.  No,  it didnt mean anything,  Alucard wouldn't lie to him.   He shook it off and followed after him.   The vampire was taken to the medical ward.  Surely Integra would be furious to learn of another vampire being brought within her halls, but if this really was Mina Harker.... -THE- Mina Harker... then Millennium was at a great loss,  Eric had his great grandmother back... and the source of his vampirism.  A curse passed down the bloodline.  It was how his mother had become a true vampire...  and how he had.

He leaned against a wall, watching with a rather cold expression on his visage.  His arms were crossed over his chest, and when he was beckoned to see his distant relation, he ignored it and remained where he was.  "I'm not here for her."   He was there for Alucard... but the way the vampire loomed over her.   No... he had to stop thinking like that.  When Integra came in, he left the room.
